Hawker Hurricane MkI G-HUPW

Posted by Ken (Haverfordwest, United Kingdom) on 9 September 2010 in Transportation and Portfolio.

Basking in the evening sunshine at Shoreham this is the only surviving Hurricane known to have taken part in the Battle of Britain during which it flew 49 sorties and has 5 recorded enemy "kills" to its name. Sold to India in 1943 it remained there stored until 2001 when it was acquired by Peter Vacher and shipped back to the UK and restored to flying condition.

I am an amateur photographer with interests in anything that flies, be it aircraft or birds. This blog is aimed purely at my aviation interests. Please also visit http://wingtales.blogspot.com/ for a mix of aviation, bird and general photography
